How to access public records using Internet Explorer


Internet Explorer should be used via InPrivate Browsing and with the regisistry of deeds site saved in "compatibility view" (for printing records)




1) Launch IE (only use IE Browser) making sure InPrivate Browsing is active


  • To Enter InPrivate Browsing

2) Click on Settings Gear in upper right hand corner

3) Hover over Safety

4) Click on InPrivate Browsing or use shortcut Ctrl+Shift+P




1) To proceed step by step: Have InPrivate Browsing activated then enter the following in the navigation bar of Internet Explorer: http://www.barnstabledeeds.org/ 


2) click on free public search then click on free public search a second time


3) To view for free click Free Access or if the user has an account, use Log In


4) If you choose Free Access you will be prompted with this window.Click on “click here to search public records” located in the middle of the left window


  • If you choose Log In you will be asked for your credentials then taken to the screen below


5) choose your option on how you want to search i.e. “recorded land by name”


7) enter the requested information 

8) click Search Tab


9) On the popup screen click your option i.e. “doc” under the View Column


10) on the left side of your screen, choose the action you wish to perform i.e. view or print


If you choose Print you will be asked to enter some information. Then you should be asked to choose a printer. The screen that follows should be what you see for the printer selection.


If the screen below appears, you will have to make sure that Internet Explore has saved the Registry of Deeds website in the Compatibility View settings under the tools menu. Don't try to save it in this location when InPrivate Browsingis active. Exit InPrivate View, then enter the website URL in Compatibility View.
