Summary:


  • Step A: covers changing your email password when Outlook or the I.T. Department requests that it needs to be changed.


  • Step B: covers how to change your email password when you want to change it. 




Step A: Outlook or I.T. Department Request


Users will be required to change their passwords approximately every six months. When a password change is due, you will be notified by a prompt when Outlook is launched. The steps needed to change the password is outlined below.


  • DO NOT attempt to change your password in Outlook when prompted to change the password
  • Close Outlook


1) Open a web browser and go to: mail.falmouthma.gov


2) Fill in your email address (FirstName.LastName@xxxxxx.gov) 

3) Click Next


4) Enter Old Password or Temporary Password

5) Click Sign in


6) Enter Old Password or Temporary Password

7) Enter a New Password (eight characters consisting of 3 out of 4: Upper case, Lower case, number,or Symbol)

8) Confirm New Password

9) Click Sign in

  • Do not choose Save password or to remain signed in
  • Close Web Browser


  • Launch Outlook and when prompted Enter the New Password created in previous steps
  • If a box appears next to where you entered the new password and it says remember credentials, then check the box before pressing enter. If no box appears then just press enter.




Step B: Changing Email Password


Changing your Email Password utilizing the Web access interface


  1. Close Outlook then launch a web browser
  2. Go to Office.com
  3. Sign in using the small icon located in the upper right or the Sign In button located in the center of the screen
  4. Enter your Email Address > click Next
  5. Enter your Password > click Sign In > select No when asked to Stay Signed In
  6. Click on your Name in the upper right > select My Account
  7. Select Security & Privacy on left side of the screen > select Change Password
  8. Enter Current (old) Password > Create New Password > Confirm New Password > click Submit
  9. Relaunch Outlook. when prompted, enter the New password. If a box appears that says Remember Credentials, make sure to check the box.
