Locked Printing puts print jobs behind a password, where they sit in the queue and will not print until the password is typed on the printer.

  1. Open Control Panel by searching for it on your Start Menu:
  2. Select "View devices and printers"
NOTE: If Control Panel does not look like this, you can change the view by selecting the drop down arrow and selecting "Category" as the option

  3. Right Click your printer and select "Printing preferences"
  4. Under "Job Type" select "Locked Print" (1.)
    1. Then, Select "Details" on the right (2)
    2. Under The User ID section, select "Windows Login Name" (3) and then type the desired password/PIN in the Password section (4) - This is what will need to be inputted at the printer to retrieve sent print jobs. Press OK when you have chosen your password/PIN
    3. Select "Register Current Settings..." (5) Type in a name for this preset. If desired you can type in a Comment which acts as a basic description, but is not required
  5. Now, when printing to this printer, it will enter a locked print queue instead of printing right away. To print, Select the "Printer" option on the printer.

  6. Look for an option for "Print Jobs" or "Print Queue" depending on your printer model (1). Then look for "Locked Print Job" (2), you will be presented with a list of user names if more than one person has submitted print jobs, otherwise you will only see your user account. Select the print job and type in your PIN when prompted.

  7. If you do not see "Print Jobs" listed, uncheck and recheck the "Simplified Scrn." option if it is currently checked off and that should refresh the menu options and you should now see "Print Jobs" as an option and can select Locked Print to see the print queue, where you will see your (user)name. Select your (user)name and you will be presented with a list of print jobs you have submitted, select the one you want to print and type in your PIN when prompted.

Your job will then begin printing.
